MARTIN v. SOUTHERN PACIFIC TRANSPORTATION CO.

$555,000 settlement for a railroad conductor who suffered permanent disability as the result of a shoulder injury while uncoupling a train car.

DANIEL HECK v. SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD

Plaintiff, while riding the side of the box car, was pulled to the ground by a protruding metal brace which existed on the fence owned by co-Defendant Paco Steel & Engineering Corp. The fence was leaning towards the railroad tracks in such a way as to cause the metal brace to unsafely encroach the railroad track right of way. As a result of being pulled off the box car by Paco Steels fence, Plaintiff suffered severe personal injuries which necessitated surgery on his left shoulder and neck. Jury verdict for $988,904.00.

Boggio (a minor) v. Southern Pacific Transportation

The decedent was struck by a moving railcar and thrown onto the rails. His legs were severed at the thigh level. He was pronounced dead approximately 30 minutes later; the cause of death was traumatic injuries. Settled for $950,000.00.

David J. Perez, et al. v. Southern Pacific Trans.

Plaintiff was being transported by co-defendant Renzenberger to Southern Pacific Trans. Co. where he worked as a railway freight conductor. Renzenberger van rear-ended another vehicle in Los Angeles causing a herniated disc in Perez’s lumbar spine. Settled for $662,500.
