Thorsnes Bartolotta and McGuire San Diego San Diego and Arizona's Consumer Law Firm
Brett J. Schreiber

Brett Schreiber's practice includes construction defect, personal injury, medical malpractice and condemnation law. Brett pursued his undergraduate studies at Florida State University, graduating cum laude with degrees in creative writing and religion.

Brett is a young lawyer who has begun to distinguish himself as one of the next generation of legal leaders. In 2009 he earned recognition as one of San Diego's Top Attorneys, perhaps the youngest person to do so. He is also the youngest member of the Board of Directors of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego and chairs their Community Outreach and Events Committees. Under his leadership CASD has organized teach-ins in low income schools putting on mock trials to show how the legal system works. He has begun a unique clothing drive where members of the legal profession can donate used business attire to Father Joe's Community Re-Entry Program to be used by the less fortunate to wear for job interviews.

He's proudest of his most creative project – collecting gently used office supplies from law firms, legal pads, pens, pencils, folders and more for redistribution to school children in the Philippines through the Philippine Educational Charities.

Recently named "An Attorney on the Rise" by the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, Brett also finds time to lecture student groups on the personal rewards of the legal profession.

Brett moved to San Diego from South Florida to pursue his law degree at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where he graduated cum laude. While in law school, Brett not only managed to gain invaluable real-world experience, he also found time to be a prominent student leader as well as a member and competitor of the Thomas Jefferson Moot Court team.

Brett's legal background spans the halls of the legislature to the courthouse steps. As a legislative intern in the Florida Senate and later as a lobbyist, Brett first learned the ins and outs of the legal process from the legislative perspective. Whether it was monitoring committee meetings, honing his negotiating skills outside the Capital rotunda, or advising municipal and corporate clients about the impact of pending legislation, Brett put to use every aspect of the legal process – experience that would prove to be invaluable as a trial lawyer.

Brett brings a diverse knowledge and experience to his practice. He clerked for several years with a South Florida law firm that specializes in criminal defense, civil litigation and family law. Brett then worked as a volunteer intern in the Major Crimes division of the San Diego Public Defenders office in order to gain experience in criminal defense law. Before joining Thorsnes Bartolotta McGuire, Brett clerked with a small appellate practice, where he was tasked with filing appeals to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals and writs of certiorari to the United States Supreme Court.

Brett feels right at home with a balance of complex litigation, personal injury and condemnation cases. He is admitted to practice in all California courts and the Southern and Central Districts of the United States District Court of California, as well as the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the San Diego Bar Association, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, and Consumer Attorneys of California and the American Association of Justice.

Brett and his wife Shayna, a clinical psychologist, live in Ocean Beach. They enjoy surfing, yoga, tennis, and hiking together with their golden retriever, Maui.
