T. Atkins
is an associate
attorney at Thorsnes, Bartolotta & McGuire in San Diego. Mr. Atkins'
areas of practice include construction defect, preventable natural
disaster, medical malpractice, products liability, real property and
personal injury litigation. Born and raised in Jamestown, New York, Mr. Atkins enlisted in the United States Navy at seventeen, serving aboard a nuclear powered fast attack submarine during the Iranian hostage crisis and later aboard a San Diego-based amphibious assault ship. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, Mr. Atkins attended San Diego State University and was awarded the Bachelor of Arts degree in English, cum laude, with departmental distinction. Following his graduation, Mr. Atkins was accepted into the inaugural Master of Fine Arts program in poetry writing at SDSU, which he attended while awaiting admission to law school. Mr. Atkins earned the degree of Juris Doctor at California Western School of Law, in San Diego. Mr. Atkins was one of only two students to be awarded Cal Western's Career Transition Scholarship. As a full-time student at Cal Western, Mr. Atkins also worked as a law clerk with Thorsnes, Bartolotta & McGuire on the personal injury team. Upon successful completion of the California Bar exam, Mr. Atkins was retained as an associate with the firm. As an associate attorney, Mr. Atkins has worked on a variety of large and small cases, including a landslide case in which he participated in the representation of more than 100 individuals whose homes were destroyed or rendered valueless. Mr. Atkins also represents families and individuals in personal injury and wrongful death actions. He has obtained recoveries for folks injured in automobile accidents, by exposure to pesticides, by exposure to indoor bio-organic contaminants, over-the-counter medications and victims of medical malpractice. Mr. Atkins is admitted to practice law before all California State Courts and the United States Federal District Court, Southern California and has been appointed as Judge Pro Tem of the San Diego County Superior Court. Mr. Atkins' professional associations include the American Bar Association, Association of Trial Lawyers of America, Consumer Attorneys of California, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, the San Diego County Bar Association and the San Diego Lawyers Club. He is a member of the Board of Management of the La Jolla YMCA. When he is not at his desk, Mr. Atkins enjoys spending time with his family, hiking, playing guitar or reading a good book. |
